On the next day we had scheduled a tour to go to the DMZ. Our guide went over some of the history of Korea and the war, and then gave us a little time to look around before we would depart for the next area of the tour. At the DMZ I was most surprised to see an amusement park which only had soldiers using it, and our tour guide explained that it was so defectors, especially those who brought their children, would have a happy first memory upon getting to the South. We then went to an area where we were able to see North Korea, and they had binoculars so we could see even better. It was kind of surreal, especially seeing people walking around through the binoculars. We then went to the Third Tunnel, which was the third tunnel discovered by the South from which it was suspected that the North had planned to launch a surprise attack. After the DMZ tour, we went to Deoksugung Palace to explore. It was smaller than the other, but still very detailed and beautiful.
