For my second day in Thailand I booked a tour to Ayutthaya, the ancient capital of Siam, which is now Thailand. First we went to Bang Pa-In Palace, which is home to many different international architectural influences. Once we got to the actual city of Ayutthaya, the first temple we went to was Wat Chai Mongkhon, which has many large statues of Buddha including one of a reclining Buddha. At the top we could also walk around to see the view and even go inside. The next temple we went to was Wat Maha That, which is famous for having a Buddha head statue embedded in a tree root. Unfortunately much of the temple had been previously destroyed, but it was still incredible to see. It started pouring on our way to the final temple, but thankfully I had gone prepared and brought both my rain jacket and an umbrella, so I was able to see it. The final temple was Wat Chaiwatthanaram, the one in the photo, which is one of the most famous temples in Ayutthaya. After the tour we were dropped off at iconsiam, a major shopping mall in Bangkok. I had both dinner and dessert there before going to the Napalai Terrace to take in the view of the city and the Chao Phraya River. There was also a light display on the roof which I was able to enjoy. I took a motorcycle taxi back to the hotel from the mall, which I loved, too.
