I love going to the zoo, and I had been told by a few of my friends who had visited Singapore before me that the Night Safari is a wonderful experience, so I decided I would do it as well. I've also heard wonderful things about the zoo, so I decided to spend the whole day there. I went in the morning to the zoo part, where I saw active otters, white tigers, a baby pygmy hippo, and a cheetah who was incredibly close to the glass. There was also a walkthrough exhibit which had ring tailed lemurs, as well as a "play area" where a trainer was working with an active fennec fox.
After seeing all of the animals in the zoo and taking the train ride through it, I headed to the River Wonders area, which was more focused on marine animals and animals which would live in areas near rivers. In addition to the fish, they had an area for a giant panda and a red panda who was working with a trainer in exchange for treats. Both of them were adorable, and then I made my way to the "Amazon River Quest" boat ride, which was about ten minutes long and allowed viewing of capybaras, a jaguar, and more. The last area in River Wonders was arguably my favorite, since it was a giant tank home to many manatees. I love manatees, so I enjoyed being able to watch so many of them swimming around with the other fish in the tank.
After finishing with River Wonders, I had a short amount of time to just hang out before my admission time for the Night Safari. The Night Safari has both a train route to show animals to the guests, as well as a walking path, and while some animals overlap, there are some only accessible by train and some only accessible by walking. I decided to do the walking path first so that I could also attend the Creatures of the Night show and the light dance show they have near the entrance. In the first area, my eyes began adjusting to the dark and I was able to see fishing cats, an armadillo and more. In the second area, I was able to see lions, a clouded leopard and servals, which I was particularly excited about. There was also a walkthrough exhibit of bats and of civets. I then went back to the entrance to see the Creatures of the Night show, which included a binturong, raccoon dog, and fennec fox. The light show was shortly after, so I was able to watch it, too. After the show I went back down the path again so I could complete it. In the next area I saw hyenas and was able to get pretty close to a rhino. In the final walking segment, I was able to see Tasmanian devils and wallabies, as well as a woylie. Finally I took the train ride to see the animals I couldn't by walking, which included cape buffalo, Asian elephants, and red dholes. After taking the train ride I went back to my hotel for the night.
