Thailand: Day 3

On my third day in Bangkok I wanted to see as any temples as possible given my short stay in the city. The first one I went to was Wat Traimit Withayaram Worawihan, which is also known as the Temple of the Golden Buddha due to it being home to the largest solid gold Buddha statue in the world. After visiting it I headed over to Wat Phitchaya Yatikaram Worawihan. Unlike the Golden Buddha temple, which had lots of tourists, this one was much quieter and the only people there were a few locals and some monks. I then continued on to Wat Prayurawongsawat Worawihan, which was a gorgeous temple with a circular wall around it. While it also had nearly no people at it aside from two other tourists who were leaving and a security guard, it had a nice museum filled with artifacts at the entrance. After walking around it, I went upstairs to see the view and go inside to see the Buddha statues. The fourth temple I went to was Wat Kalayanamit Woramahawihan, which is located right along the river and home to a very large Buddha statue. The next temple I went to was Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchawaramahawihan, or Wat Arun, also often called the Temple of Dawn. It's the one in the picture, and is one of the most famous temples in the city for its exquisite architecture and design. I reached the final temple by taking a ferry across the river from Wat Arun to Wat Phra Chetuphon, also known as Wat Pho. Wat Pho is a diverse temple and is home to an extremely large reclining Buddha statue. After exploring all the temples for the day, I went to Sea Life Bangkok Ocean World, which is largest aquarium in both Thailand and all of Southeast Asia. I then met my local friend for dinner where we went to a Thai style barbeque place which was absolutely delicious.
