Having learned about Merdeka Square in one of my Asian Studies classes the semester before going abroad, I knew I wanted to visit it myself since I was in KL. I walked around the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, which is across the street from the square, and then crossed over to walk along the square itself. It's also home to one of the tallest flagpoles in the world, which was incredibly impressive. After exploring the square I decided to go to the KL Bird Park. It's a large aviary with all sorts of birds in it. I loved the ostriches and cassowaries, as well as the pelicans. There was also a bird show, where parrots flew over the audience, raced each other, and even spoke into the mic. After the show was a feeding, where I saw the keepers feeding fish to all of the birds in one of the habitats, and a monitor lizard even came out of the water to make an appearance, too. Afterwards I went to the Petronas Towers again to see them from the other side and to enjoy the view. For dinner, I met my local friend and then we were able to go out again to see how the towers were lit up at night. On my way home, I saw the towers briefly lit up in a different color rather than simple white, but I couldn't figure out why.
