I met with two of my local friends so that one of them could bring us around in the New Territories, where his hometown is. We started out by going to a local HK style restaurant, and then made our way to a heritage trail near the restaurant. There was a tower and some temples along the trail, all of which were quite beautiful. After exploring those a bit, we made our way no the subway to check out a different area which is a famous for having murals all throughout the village. We were able to see some of the murals, including a recent one which was a painting of some HK Olympians at the recent Olympics. We then explored the street a bit more, where we came across a shop which had a macaw and a cockatoo living there. Afterwards we headed to a different area where there was a large park with an aviary. The aviary is pictured here, and it had some really beautiful birds inside. It also went above the aviary to offer a beautiful viewpoint allowing us to look out in all directions. We then tried some takoyaki and I had a bite of a clam pancake before getting a taro flavored HK style desert.
